Bermuda Shorts

I've seen a lot of these fun patchy Bermuda shorts in the stores lately, so I thought I would try my hand at making some. I used the "running eights" fabric that has 8 different coordinating prints running the length of the bolt. It was pretty fun to work with. The pattern is a baby pants pattern I have that I altered to make shorts. I wanted them longer, but right now they are capris on Brynlee...that just means they'll last longer, right? I also put a fake "fly" on there and some belt loops to put the orange ribbon belt through. Brynlee's now ready for warm weather...bring it on!!

Bag #3

Here we go again...another bag!!! This one was fun to make too! It is made out of a soft knit material on the outside with a ultra soft avocado green corduroy in the inside. Both fabrics were $1/yard from Walmart...score! The pockets and button are made from Walmart fabric too and give the purse a little spunk! I'm really loving the "make - it - yourself - button - thingie"...you never have to worry about matching a button again (I'm sure you were all losing sleep over that). Anyway, here are some pictures:

Pillows for Gwen

My niece Gwen has an April birthday. My sister is planning to surprise her by redoing her room from Winnie the Pooh to FLOWERS!! She bought a cute bedspread, stuff for the walls, etc. I offered to make some throw pillows. I stuck to the color theme and this is what I came up with. Since I'm sending them to her, I didn't stuff them. I can't wait to see them stuffed!

Bag #2

I wanted to try this pattern again, with a few changes. This is how it turned out:

First off, I made the bag a couple inches skinnier on each side. I left the length the same. The first one was a little too big for me (although I sure could hold a lot of stuff; I think it would make a perfect smaller diaper bag).

I also changed the strap. I made it all one width and skinnier too. It is a little less than 2" wide. The original pattern strap goes from wide to a little skinnier at the top. I also made the strap longer so it would fit all the way across my body comfortably.

And the last thing I changed were the inside pockets. I put 4 pockets in the bag, two smaller ones and two larger ones. One has a space for a cell phone and a pen and they all have velcro closures with a ribbon loop for easy opening. I also put a strap with a D-ring for my keys. I also tried making a fabric button...i had NO idea it was soo easy. There are kits at walmart for cheap and it takes two seconds to make one...so fun!

I think I'm gonna like this bag! They are really fun to make...watch out, there may be more posts involving bags in the future!
